UP && COMING: Y'OH !!!

Y'OH is a brand started by KARA MESSINA, that is definition of dope streetwear  that exclusively uses AFRICAN WAXED PRINTED FABRICS. Her collection called "Head's Ain't Ready" uses these prints to represent a "new" representation of the checkered/plaid shirt.  Coming from a pattern cutter background, Messina did a lot of research on the asymmetrical cuts and shapes used in outerwear by RALPH LAUREN & NORTH FACE, which made her outerwear and shirts so Stylish. Her collection is strictly for DUDES at the moment but (hopefully) we will see a women's line in the future!

Here are some of my favorites:

On the radio, all the time, day and night I hear one group: MAGIC SYSTEM They are a group from Ivory Coast, that made it BIG in France. I've been jamming to them while I've been here and I thought I should spread the music.

C00L VIDE0

I'm probably really behind on this but I just found out JAY-Z has a BLOG....(shocking, i know) I doubt he's doing this by himself but you never knoow!
The first post was this video and I thought it was fresh, so check it out:

click HERE for his site!

It's something new: Afropolitian...

What is AFROPOLITIAN?Who even started this term? A girl named Eniola David:

 started a mini line of 6 outfits, which represent the name of her line so well. They represent the 1970 afro renesissance in Nigeria and she became inspired by the prints and styles found in the time period. She resides in toronto, this young fashion designer and was EVEN featured in TORONTO FASHION WEEK (MAKING MOVESSS). She hasn't hinted at expanding her line but I HOPE SHE DOES! This ENTIRE (seriously everything) LINE are clothes I could rock and love wearing.

Afro-Chic Style Envy: Shingai Shoniwa

This young hip lady is always looking so fabulous, she is the lead singer for the band The Noisettes, she's from Zimbabwe, so that's where she gets all of the beautiful garments made with the African print styled with modern pieces. That's what I like most about her, her look is casual mixed with modern pieces today that have African designs on them. She's like a mixture between JANELLE MONAE (cause of the hair and whatnot) with MAMA AFRICA (lol) Even though I'm from Kenya, shes looks so chic and she deserves her props.
check her out!

 Fierce..no?

Ch-Ch-Changes

I've decided to make my blog a lot broader but keeping the same African feel but adding a lot more about my life, events and stuff that has to do with NEW YORK! Knowing myself, almost all the events will be free or cheap but I think if I make it broader, I could blog more

yesh!
